The New AI Roleplay Customisation Form: A Tabbed Layout
The Roleplay Customisation form is now organised into tabs, making it easier to build and configure an AI Roleplay — including where to find the Hints toggle. Available to admins and coaches creating or editing a roleplay.
🆕 New feature: The Roleplay Customisation form is now split into tabs, making it easier to find and configure each part of your roleplay setup.
Table of contents
Basic Information
This tab covers the roleplay's identity and who can access it:
- Title — the name of the roleplay.
- In-app description — a short description shown to learners explaining what the scenario is about.
- Who can use and assign the roleplay — choose between only me or your organisation.
Scenario
This tab drives the experience the learner has inside the conversation, including:
- The avatar the learner speaks with
- The environment
- The learner's role and the avatar's role
⚠️ The AI has access to everything in this section. If there's information you want the learner to have to uncover from the avatar during the conversation, don't put it here.
- Learner Instructions is the one exception — this is the only field in the Scenario tab the AI does not see. Use it to give the learner their instructions and guidance on how to navigate the conversation.
Assessment
This tab controls how the roleplay is graded, whether reports get submitted and shared, and whether learners can ask for help mid-conversation:
- Require the learner to submit a learner report
- Notify the class owner when the learner submits a report
- Allow the learner to ask for help — this is the Hints toggle. It's available on supported roleplay types only. See Allow Learners to Ask for Help: The Hints Toggle in Roleplay Customisation for the full list of supported roleplays and what learners see when it's on.
- Criteria:
- Open Conversation and Professional Conversations let you build custom criteria — for each one, you enter a title, a good example of the behaviour, and a bad example of the behaviour.
- All other roleplay types use fixed, pre-set criteria.
- For any criterion (custom or fixed), you can toggle whether it appears to the learner, both in-app and on their learner report:
- Grade — shows the learner a rating of Needs Work, Good, or Excellent for that criterion.
- Feedback — shows the learner AI-generated feedback on how they performed against that criterion.
AI Coach Debrief
Turn this section on if you want learners to debrief with an AI coach after the roleplay. You can edit the questions the AI coach asks the learner during the debrief.
Settings
- Voice mode — control whether the roleplay uses voice.
- Language — set the language for the roleplay.
