This article will provide the steps you need to customise, complete, and review our AI Roleplays

AI Roleplays allow learners to practice essential skills in safe, dynamic environments, customized to their needs by educators.

Choose from a range of ready-to-use templates:

  • Debating

Setting Up Your AI Roleplay

Step 1: Navigate to the AI Roleplays Tab

Open Bodyswaps Go, then go to the AI Roleplays tab.

Step 2: Create a Roleplay

Click Create Roleplay and select one of the available templates.

Step 3: Customize Your Template

Tailor the experience to your learners by adjusting learner and avatar roles and information. 

💡 Short on time? Use our AI Assistant to complete the template for you.
Just type a brief paragraph describing your scenario, and the assistant will auto-generate the full roleplay setup.

Step 4: Save Your Roleplay

 

🧠 Using the AI Assistant

The AI Assistant is designed to help you quickly create high-quality roleplays with minimal effort.

How it works:

  1. Click AI Assistant during the template setup.

  2. Type a short paragraph describing your scenario.
    Example: “A conversation between a nurse and an elderly patient where the nurse needs to show empathy while gathering medical history.”

  3. The AI will automatically complete the roleplay fields — including goals, tone, difficulty, and roles — based on your description.

You can still edit everything!

Once generated, review and fine-tune the fields if needed before saving your roleplay.

🗣️ Voice Mode Toggle

Coming in app version 3.5 on 4th February

The Voice Mode toggle allows instructors to determine how learners interact verbally during a roleplay.

You can choose between:

  • Turn-Based Mode: Learners click a button to start and stop their response. This can be helpful for learners who benefit from having more time to think before speaking.

  • Automatic Mode: The system automatically detects when the learner starts and finishes speaking. This mode offers a more fluid experience but is best used in quiet environments to ensure accurate voice detection.

Instructors can set the preferred mode or allow learners to choose for themselves within the roleplay.

🌍 Roleplay Language

Comping in app version 3.5 on 4th February

The Roleplay Language toggle allows learners to select the language used in the roleplay.

  • When off, the roleplay defaults to English (US).

  • When on, learners can choose from the following supported languages:

    • English (UK + US)

    • French (France + Canada)

    • German

    • Portuguese

    • Spanish (Spain + US)

    • Welsh

    • Polish

This feature enhances accessibility and learner comfort by allowing them to engage in their preferred language.

🧪 Test Your Roleplay

To preview your setup:

  1. Go to My Modules

  2. Click Actions next to the AI Roleplay template type

  3. Select Play Module

  4. Locate the name of your customization and begin playing

How Learners Access AI Roleplays

Learners can access AI Roleplays in three ways:

  1. Via a Pathway

  2. Via a Class

  3. Via My Modules

1️⃣ Assigning via a Pathway

Best for: Structured programs with units around the same topic

Steps:

  1. Go to Bodyswaps Go

  2. Select the Pathways tab

  3. Create a new pathway (See: Pathways Article)

  4. Click Add a unit!

  5. Select Roleplays

  6. Choose your customized roleplay

  7. Click Add to pathway

2️⃣ Assigning via a Class

Best for: One-off or group-specific assignments.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to the Classes tab

  2. Select an existing class (See: Classes Article)

  3. Click Assignments

  4. Click Add an assignment

  5. Select AI Roleplays

  6. Locate your customized roleplay

  7. Click Assign

 

3️⃣ Accessing via the ‘My Modules’ Tab

Best for: Learners who want to explore roleplays independently.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to the My Modules tab

  2. Generate a code at the top under "Get Access Code"

In the app:

  • Tap Simulators

  • Select the topic

  • Choose the AI Roleplay template
